What is WIN Time?
In 2012 we placed WIN time or ‘What I Need’ time into the
schedule at each grade level for three half hour periods per week. The purpose
for this time is to provide additional reinforcement or extension opportunities for
all students in reading and math, based on specific skills/concepts being taught
in these subjects. Teachers develop groups across the grade level focused on
specific skills that need additional reinforcement or enrichment and students have
the opportunity to work with another teacher in these groups, or they might also
be working with their own teacher. All of our teachers are collaborating on how
to provide this additional reinforcement, so your child might spend time in an
instructional group being facilitated by our Reading Specialist, our Curriculum
Specialist or other excellent teachers. It is part of our collaborative effort to
provide quality instruction to small groups of students for an identified period
of time. These groups will change depending upon the instructional focus areas.
We are always looking at best practices in helping our students master skills and
concepts, and Aiken has many skilled teachers who can assist with this support.
