In Math we have been focusing on Geometry during the month of October. We read the book Spookley The Square Pumpkin (one of Mrs. Scelia's FAVORITE books!) and we talked about the message in the story...
"You shouldn't judge a book, or a pumpkin, by it's cover"
Then, we made our own pumpkin patch to show that our pumpkins are all different in the best ways (just like us!)

In Math we have also been experimenting with different ways to fill in a puzzle. There are so many ways to fill this rocket! We even realized that we can use 2 triangles instead of 1 blue rhombus. Or we can use 3 triangles instead of a trapezoid. This led us right into thinking about fractions and how we divide things into equal pieces. This reminded us of our own lives as we discussed cutting up a birthday cake evenly or an apple pie!
We are starting to move into our Addition Unit. Together we have been noticing different strategies that help us add quickly. Some of these strategies include:
-Take the bigger number in your head and count up.
(which is what you see in the picture)
-Use the number line
-Draw a picture
-Use doubles and doubles plus one
